Agile Space Industries, True Anomaly collaborate on Victus Haze mission

Agile Space Industries is set to deliver advanced propulsion technologies to True Anomaly, enhancing the capabilities of the Jackal autonomous orbital vehicle (AOV) for the U.S. Space Systems Command’s Victus Haze demonstration. Slated for 2025, the Victus Haze mission’s objective is to showcase the potential of commercial technologies to support future tactically responsive space operations.

The Jackal AOV is designed to efficiently maneuver in any orbit. Such capabilities are essential for a “maneuver without regret” doctrine, allowing space operators to execute aggressive maneuvers without the concern of rapidly depleting propellant reserves. This feature is vital for maintaining tactical superiority by reducing response times and enhancing the unpredictability of maneuvers against potential adversaries.

“Propulsion is at the heart of Jackal’s unique capabilities,” True Anomaly CEO and co-founder Even Rogers said in an April 26 press release. “Agile’s hardware gives Jackal propulsive capability that has simply not been seen before in a spacecraft of this size. By combining efficiency and high thrust, we will empower operators with the agility needed to succeed in the demanding space environment.”

In addition to supplying the main engines, attitude control systems, and other key propulsion components, Agile Space Industries is responsible for propellant logistics. This includes the procurement, handling, and fuel-loading processes essential for the Jackal AOV’s deployment under the Victus Haze mission.

Leveraging Agile’s expertise in additive manufacturing and propulsion testing, the partnership aims to strengthen both national defense initiatives and the commercial space sector by providing advanced, reliable tools for secure and sustainable space operations.

True Anomaly was recently awarded a $30 million contract by the U.S. Space Force for the Victus Haze mission, which aims to apply commercial technology to enhance space security and readiness.

“Both Agile and True Anomaly are investing in the mission – it’s a true collaboration,” said Agile CEO Chris Pearson in a company press release. “The hardware being brought to market will benefit the wider space economy and is enabled by Agile’s strategic investments in advanced additive manufacturing and vertically integrated propulsion test capabilities.”
